Transfer: Ten Hag in agreement with Murtough over two defender signings
Erik ten Hag and John Murtough, both of Manchester United, have agreed to sign two defenders this summer.
This comes after Man United failed to sign Jurrien Timber of Ajax.
Timber was anticipated to join Man United until recently, but he’s now set to stay at Ajax instead, fearing that joining the Red Devils would jeopardize his chances of making his country’s World Cup squad in Qatar later this year.
Manchester United are looking to add a new center-back to their team this summer in preparation for the next season.
While Ten Hag is happy to have Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Raphael Varane at his disposal, Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, and Phil Jones might all be sold.
Timber was expected to join Man United, but that is now unlikely, as the Netherlands international is hesitant to transfer as the World Cup in Qatar approaches.
Ten Hag and Murtough, according to the Manchester Evening News, are in agreement on two probable options.
Meanwhile, Pau Torres of Villarreal has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
