Incoming Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, wants Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at the club next season, according to the UK Telegraph.
The 37-year-old will be an important element of Ten Hag’s new-look club next season.
Ronaldo returned to United last summer, but his future has sparked much conjecture.
Despite Manchester United’s terrible season, Ronaldo has scored 24 goals in all competitions.
However, with no Champions League football on the horizon for next season, Ronaldo has yet to make a firm decision on his future.
Ronaldo’s two-year contract with the club expires in August, and Ten Hag wants to keep hold of the Portugal captain’s exceptional goalscoring abilities, even if he isn’t the best fit for the style of game he wants to play.
