Tim Sherwood, the former Aston Villa manager, has slammed Manchester United player Bruno Fernandes, alleging the Portuguese has taken his position at the club for granted.

In all competitions, the Portugal international has scored 10 goals and provided 14 assists for Manchester United this season.

Fernandes, 27, joined the Red Devils in January 2020 and was praised as one of the club’s top winter transfer recruits due to his ability to hit the ground running right away.

Manchester United have revealed that Ajax manager Erik ten Hag will take over at Old Trafford at the conclusion of the season, with several first-team players anticipated to leave, and Fernandes is one of the few players tipped to keep his place at the Theatre of Dreams.

“[No] running back, just play when you have the ball, and it suited players like him [Fernandes],” Sherwood stated on SuperSportTV after Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Brentford, with Ferdinand scoring the opening goal.

“I was underwhelmed by his season.

“It seems to me that he believes that by playing for Manchester United, he is doing them a favor.” He’s not that talented.

“He’s talking about [Anthony] Elanga improving and maturing, but he needs to understand that he still has a long way to go.”

“He’s not doing them a favor by playing for them because there have been so many better players who have worn that shirt before him.”
